Nothing like spring to make the blogging dull. Spring is slow in Seattle and it is my first weather surprise. If I would have made the connection a bit more quickly I would seen this one coming. For example, Fall started in early Aug. and lasted until almost Dec. Hence when the daffodils were a bloomin' around Valentine's day my heart was glad as I expected that quick rush to warm, new life, and sunshine! However, the wake up call has been this; spring is still arriving. Its taking its time, just like fall did. So I think somewhere around mid-June we will see some full sunny days regularly and summer (Seattle summer that is) will do its best to unfold. Oh, the even keeled temperateness of the Northwest. I will be pleased with upper 50's until you tell me otherwise.

Got an opportunity to see Tim Lowly speak this week at UW and enjoy a meal with him and a collection of other folks mostly from Seattle Pacific University where Gala is currently teaching. Tim is a Chicago painter that Gala and I have admired for awhile so it was inspiring to hear the voice behind the work. If the voice behind the work is good, and his is, you walk away strengthened in your own convictions, but spurred on to take them further. Needless to say the weekend has been productive so far as I am working on a branch (no pun intend of course) of newer images. Thursday, I have to present my work before a group of faculty and Stan Douglas an internationally known Vancouver artist. The squirming has begun already. Each artist (3 of us) have to present a 500 word artist statement to be figured under. Okay, deep breath.

I just met Tim Lowly this last weekend. Him and his wife were roaming around Art Chicago and we talked for a bit. They seemed like a gentle couple.
