in situ:

somewhere between success & failure

soundtrack

Gala and I have been watching Best of Youth for the last few nights....and thankfully we are staying awake. Its a solid story that feels more like a novel overall revolving around a family and its growth & change over time. Off to a good start I think!

So here is the summer music rotation as promised to whomever in the world might be interested...

Tunng - Comments on the Inner Chorus
*beautifully melodic with chaotic breaks, warm, round, odd, bouncy, twangy, electro-country

Alice Russell- My Favorite Letters
*old soul/new soul, windows down, sing-a-long, nod-that-head, classic croon, new groove

Bonnie "Prince" Billy - The Letting Go
*70's folk rebirth, light of epiphany, strained and weakened, full and hungry

Sufjan Stevens - The Avalanche
*triumph, pomp, and introspection: summer's classic menu

Midlake - The Trials of Van Occupanter
*gently nagging, beautiful melodic rock of the woods with fallout to satisfy the spacey

Ray LaMontagne - Trouble*ghost of van morrison and springsteen, honest, repetitive, charged

Daedelus - A Gent Agent & Meanwhile
*cut, crunch, woo, explode, compile

Nobody & Mystic Chords of Memory
*sweet vocal harmonies over street beats and psych guitar scapes

LaMontagne has grown on me ('Trouble' is repetive, yes). That song's just grimey and sweaty and perfect summer soundtracking.
    Cheers on the compilation.
