Last year I was I got to do a fantastic collaboration with Debra Baxter. This month she has earned her first solo show in New York at Massimo Audiello. Lucky for me she decided to include the video that we did together last year. The press release gives a very dramatic tenor to it...
The video Getting the Love Want (Practice) is a kind of live sculpture in which the breath of two people give life to a three dimensional object in a desperate desire to entrap and contain the mystery of love exchange.

I REALLY dig lists but I am not as fond of new year's ruminations. Not trying be pretentious here...really, especially in light of all of my fine friends who have posted resolutions, reflections, and other curiousities. What I dig are lists... ALL of the time! A similar quandry for me is Giving and the Christmas spirit. I like giving in March, June, and September. I don't like being prompted to generosity through nostalgia, cookie smells, and Bing Crosby songs. I realized one day in Trader Joe's that I was buying better cheese, better wine, and chocolate, because of the prompting Christmas cheer there. I was feeling 'generous' and 'celebratory' and hence manipulated. To preach, I am for more constant reflection, more rigorous generosity, and maybe less regret? That is my new year's resolution I guess.
List of awesome tidings or things enjoyed in the last 3 months.
Great Sights:
Amazingly absurd and delightful animations by Tom DesLongChamp who I met at a Half-Handed Cloud show (good place to make a new friend).
Eastern Promises----or better titled Cronenberg makes you wear a film for a week.
Juno - trendy but heartful
Week End - Jean Luc Godard (still picking my way through those new wave films)
Darjeeling Limited - came out with the same Wes Anderson flag I went into the theatre with 'cept I bowed at his new maturity and grace.
Beautiful new sounds:
Chris Schlarb - Twilights and Ghost Stories
Son Lux - At War with Walls & Mazes
Efterklang -Parades
LAKE
and especially in LAKE - Ashley & Eli
Delectables:
Dreadnaught- 3 Floyd's Brewery - only east of the Mississippi baby
Theo Chocolate - My christmas gift...a tour through the only Organic, Free Trade chocolatier in the US. Oh Seattle.
Big Wood Festival - Brouwer's is amazing and this festival with only wood aged beers was like tasting the rare and unusual. Lots of 'wows' and 'ohhhs' and 'ummms'.
